Monster-in-Law
fairly predictable. big point: michael vartan is sooo hot and i guess jennifer lopez was good, better than maid in manhattan for sure. jane fonda's character viola was a little over the top but i guess she was meant to be. j. lo's character's friends were hilarious as well. the plot was entertaining enough. not so much focused on the romantic involvement as it was focused on the would-be in-law relationships. the scenarios of how to deal with monster in-laws and the screenplay were really funny. great twist at the end. although i must be a sadistic b*tch. i didn't want j. lo's character to forgive jane fonda's character at the end there. and i could've gone for a little more drama when they were finally resolving their issues but that's just me, watching too many tv soap operas. lolz... all in all, movie's ok but i wouldn't watch it again. unless of course, i were asked to choose between this one and this next one. it's a no brainer decision.
If Only
don't watch this. jennifer love hewitt and anything british obviously a wrong combination. the only thing i liked about this film was the song that samantha andrews played by hewitt apparently wrote (love will show you everything...). i should've just listened to the radio. the movie was about a bad dream. the movie was like a bad dream. here's how much the title suited this film.
- if only the guy they cast as lead was any cuter (or could act better)
- if only they could've gotten a better excuse to make a jennifer love hewitt mtv than making a whole movie
- if only the story made a little bit of sense
- if only the ending wasn't so off and bizarre
- if only jennifer love hewitt could produce a story with a better plot
- if only the screenplay wasn't so dull, save for some tiny bits of it
- if only there were more than one funny scene in the entire film
- if only the internal conflict for ian played by paul nicholls was any good (especially with the whole family background)
- if only the cab driver's role was any relevant at all or made any sense
- if only they didn't have to take the "one day someday" notion so far
- if only they could've thought of a better twist in the end than that really twisted one
- if only the supporting characters did any actual supporting
- if only this wasn't such a sad, sad, sad movie
- if only i had more time to seriously think of any redeeming qualities for this film...
